New "Copy Course" feature is in beta - Basic functionality at the moment, available via the Create New Course route. Allows you to create a new course by copying an existing one.
We aim to make this more sophisticated as required based on feedback, so please let us know how you get on with it if you use it.
New statistics module is available in Beta This area is currently in Beta so is subject to change. At the moment it is only usable with data collected for courses created by the Course Builder.
If you find any issues, please contact us and let us know what the problem was and how to reproduce it if possible.
We'd also be very keen to hear any feedback about what you like, what you don't like and what we can do to make this area more useful.
Legacy data model We have removed the option to Enable Legacy Content for new customers and those customers who do not currently have it turned on (but don't worry, if you have it turned on now, and turn it off, you will retain access to that option).
However, we strongly recommend that if you haven't done so already, you start using Course Builder driven content. The Legacy model was an alpha construct that doesn't give us the flexibility we need for future development and is much harder to maintain going forward. It is unlikely that any new features will support this old data model.
Please contact us if you need help in this area.
Fixed a bug where the Criterion Assessment Opportunity value was showing the raw data instead of the translated value in Course Builder. Criteria which have subsequently been edited in Course Builder before the fix will need revisiting to ensure the correct Assessment Opportunity value is set against the criterion.
Delete Criterion Implemented the Delete Criterion feature in Course Builder which was disabled in the first implementation.
New Course Type (P, 0-6) Added a new Course Type to provide bands P, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6.
Fixed a bug whereby the class list for teachers was not honouring the Enable Legacy flag in some scenarios.
Course Builder Intended to make creating course content easier and separates course content from classes, including separate analytics, grading, heatmaps and diaries for each course.
The aim is to improve re-use and also gives better flexibility so that classes can be taught different courses at different levels (previously, the course type was set at the class level).
Ideal for those classes where students are starting to transition from one level to the next.
The old style of creating course content at a class level is still supported for classes who have previously been set up in this way and will work alongside the new course builder based content.
New classes, or classes that currently have no content, can only use course content created via the course builder.
Please see the help center and/or help documentation for full details.
You will need to be granted access to the course builder by your admin user(s) -
once that's done it is accessible from both the profile drop-down menu and from the System Management page.
Various UI tweaks have been made during the course of developing the Course Builder to try and improve useability.
Fixed a bug that was blocking access to heatmaps belonging to students who had a large number of assessments. Also fix some wrapping issues in the heatmap that was causing the action buttons to become misaligned with the associated criteria
Correcting the "Some improvements..." heading in the feedback pages for the the Default Analytics Engine to "You were secure with...". This does not alter the logic of the Engine in anyway, this is just correcting a heading label that was missed during early development
UI Update - Assessment page We've updated the criteria assessment page to make it easier to read at a glance and to add clarity to the clear and undo functionality.
Infrastructure updates to improve scalability as our user numbers increase.
New Feature - Per-Subject licence model New licence model added that allows insitutions to pay for a licence per subject
(with unlimited users) rather than per-user. This helps to make it cheaper for schools that want to use Assessment Expert for one or two subjects.
The licence model can be switched to a per-user model on request when the number of subjects makes per-user licencing a cheaper option.
Updated logo and altered font and line-height to improve readability
New Feature - Diary entry and grade transfer Gives teachers the ability to transfer orphaned diary entries and grades to a new class. Diary entries can become orphaned when a student moves from one class to another. An alert is added to the teachers diary page view and analytics view of the affected student in the new class if orphaned entries are detected along with a button to transfer in the entries
New Feature - Grade-Locking With some Analytics Engines, calculated grades can go down as well as up based on available assessment data. This optional feature (can be toggled via the system management pages) allows schools who prefer not to indicate a drop in grade until they're sure of a students ability the option to choose when to display the lower value
Renamed "GradeMapper" to "Course Type" to add clarity to its function
Rebrand of Assess Everything to Assessment Expert.
Updates to A80 Analytics Engine:
Multiple assessments against the same criteria are now counted as a single assessment for that criteria. Previously they were being counted as different assessments which meant that we were seeing artificially high achievement percentages.
Fixed a bug that was preventing the Current Grade from being calculated when any Mapper other than the A80 Mapper was used with the A80 Analytics Engine
Minor styling adjustments to improve consistency across pages and different screen sizes
Technical improvements around confirmation and alert messaging. This is part of our approach to continuous improvement of the system
New Feature - Selective Save-to-All Gives teachers the ability to select the students the Save to all Students button on the Assessment Page saves to. This is as a result of user feedback. This has also resulted in the removal of the confirmation dialog as it is now seen as superfluous
Added Confirmation dialog when the Save to all Students button on the Assessment Page is clicked to give teachers a chance to cancel the action. This is as a result of feedback that this button is often clicked by mistake
Added What's New, What's Coming and Contact pages
Added configuration option to allow administrators to control the visibility of the Save to all students button on the Assessment page at an Institution level as a result of user feedback
